The Great Howard Dean B-Day Project of Ought'6

And the winning suggestion (both here and on DailyKos) of the Great Howard Dean Birthday Card Project of Ought-6 is... ::drumroll::

Snail-mail a birthday card to Dr. Dean and enclose a check/money order to the DNC for $XX.50 (i.e., any amount you want, plus 50 cents in support the 50-State Strategy)!

More in Extended....

In order to donate the icky old-fashioned way, LOL, you will also need to fill out and enclose the form found at this link:

Democratic Party: Donate by Phone or Mail

The mailing address is on the form, but you may want to add Dr. Dean's name at the top. Then stick it all inside the card, affix stamp, mail, and voila! It will be a happy birthday for Howard and a nice "Thank You" to the DNC staff for the kick-ass job they did and will continue to do, James Carville notwithstanding. :-P

I'll leave it up to you when to mail your card, but we want to try to get them all there by the weekend, since his birthday is Friday. I sent mine this morning. If you're on the West Coast, you should probably try to send yours by tomorrow.

By all means, if you are unable to donate at this time, go ahead and send a card anyway! I'm sure it will be just as appreciated. [Deity] knows my wallet is much lighter after the last election cycle. I only sent $15.50 myself, since I already contribute monthly via a Democracy Bond.

Also up to you, but several people are including a message that they're part of the netroots and/or hang out on a particular blog. In my card, I wrote my MyDD and DKos username (pattyp in both cases) and also mentioned my Democracy Bond number.

Being the librul treehugger that I am, I strongly encourage everyone to use cards made from recycled paper.

There have been other great suggestions, such as donating 20.06 or 20.08 for current and future election success, or buying Democracy Bonds. That's entirely up to you if you want to do that instead. The primary goal of this particular effort, though, is to hopefully get hundreds of cards there by Friday if possible, as it will make for a nice visual PR event. That's the plan, anyway.

Feel free to send this diary around to anyone you think would be interested, including other blogs. I've already hit AmericaBlog and Huffington Post, and some other place I now forget. :-/ (Probably Atrios' place). Please include a link to this diary so people have all the details they need.

Thanks!!
